he Compassionate Care Center offers care for patients that is consistent with the hospice philosophy, which is focused on achieving pain and symptom control, increasing quality of life, and honoring the needs of the entire family. The facility offers two levels of short term care to patients and their families:
- General inpatient care
- Respite care
The facility is spaciously designed to accommodate family and friends with large patient rooms as well as access to family areas. Each private room allows patients access to fresh air and garden areas on private porches, with 24-hour access to hospice clinicians. Other distinctive features of the facility include open visitation, individualized catered meals and an in-house pet therapy dog, Annie.
Patients who benefit from the center include those patients who need more care than can be managed in the home or have intense symptom management needs that a family caregiver cannot provide. Some patients lose their support systems due to illnesses or accidents, or friends and family simply need a temporary respite from care giving.
