Hospice follows the family for one year after the death of a patient. Volunteers at Hospice Care Plus can play a major role in helping families who have lost loved ones through the grieving process. Our grief support volunteers provide necessary follow up information, emotional support and companionship to families, with the support of our bereavement staff. Additional training is offered to those who are interested in this type of support. Some examples may include:
  • Acting as a grief companion by calling or visiting with grieving families and individuals to offer emotional support
  • Assisting with support groups and programs, such as the Holiday Helpline, which gives support to those in the community dealing with grief and loss
Hospice and Palliative Care volunteers provide support and assistance to patients in a variety of ways. If you are interested in more information, please call our Community Outreach Coordinator at 986-1500 or 1 800-806-5492, or download an Volunteer Application.
